LSP intended to promote economic and social development, using the RSP’s decentralized approach to poverty reduction and community empowerment, in border areas and endeavored to build and empower communities that can articulate their demands and negotiate with the government and non-government agencies to secure their rights and improve service delivery in their areas. Its overall goal was to reduce poverty through reviving livelihoods and empowering communities in three central districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The specific objectives or components were;
- Empower poor/vulnerable groups, revive community collective action & rebuild community institutions with the aim of setting a platform for the community to lay claims for their rights;
- Improve/strengthen livelihoods of the poor and vulnerable, especially women in the target area; and
- Promote/encourage advocacy and lobbying initiatives to bolster support for the long-term strategic needs of the poor and vulnerable, particularly women, and develop the capacity of state actors in participatory approaches and community development.
